It’s Com-crap-stic! (why i hate comcast)
i’m so annoyed with comcast cable right now. they are so worthless! here’s the deal… on april 18th they flipped some switch that supposedly turned on some sort of anti-piracy thang for some of their channels so that you cannot digitally record to external digital recording devices (i.e. dvd burners…).
rewind a few weeks earlier we got calls from comcast to update our cable card ids in their system to prepare for april 18th. we complied. but that didn’t do anything. the flip switched and our cable cards went caput. we scheduled technicians to come out and check it out. they changed some cables and supposedly it fixed it. well it fixed one card but not the other.
we called and comcast scheduled another technician to come by on sunday between 3-5. At 3 we get a call saying they had to cancel. gawd! so they rescheduled for Monday between 12-3. 5 pm rolls around and a technician who complained the whole time about not knowing why he was there because he had no clue what he was doing regarding cable cards — installed a cable card and just left. so we called in the cable card. we couldn’t get it to work — no preminum channels. they sent signals to our card, told us to call back the next day if it still isn’t working. so we did. they sent more signals, again they tell us to call the next day if nothing happens. something happened, but the opposite of what we want. now we don’t get any cable stations on card 2. only the public stations. so an hour ago i call to report this. i’m put on hold for 30 minutes. get a hold of someone that puts me through same as we’ve done before.. provide my cable card host id blah blah blah… send signals. and i’m like… “think it’s busted? can we just get someone to come over and give us a new card?” comcast rep is all “first i’d like to see if these signals go through first. so wait 30 minutes if nothing happens call us back” “SHIT!” i thought.
so i hung up.. and redialed, because i knew i’d be put on hold again for another 30 minutes…. so i sit here listening to violins playing on my headset. waiting for a rep to help me.

ah they finally answered!
finally got someone who was helpful she scheduled a technician to come out on friday morning. i also asked her if there was anything she can do since the service has been out for a week. and she was able to credit the account for a weeks worth of service. $25. but she didn’t offer. i did have to ask.
well time to watch ‘american idol gives back’ on the good cable card.

Sanjaya later!
i know i’m late on this. but.. YAY! sanjaya finally got the boot from american idol ! i feel bad about the folks who got the boot before him. and it’s too bad too. i thought there was potential in his auditions.

i have to agree. i think they’ve got the best voices. is it me or does this year’s american idol seem lackluster? the girls are much stronger than the boys this year. only the beatboxer from seattle is kinda good. we’ll see how it goes next week.
and to top it off who ever controls the audio for the show needs to be retrained or replaced. i know it’s hard to produce live television, but it’s awful. intros are cut off, the music drowns out the singers, and there’s such a big difference between the clip audio and the singing. i have to man my remote to adjust the audio as i watch.

Battlestar Galactica Boys
I went to Pier 39 for “Tulip Mania”… there weren’t too many tulips there at all. More of a “Tulip Here-and-There’. I think I saw more daffodills than tulips. Kind of disappointing. But i got to take a photo with Chief, Helo, and Starbucks’ husband. :)

Was watching xplay and saw their 500th episode. They had san francisco clips and they used one I was in. Funny. Hahaha. Yes that was me calling adam a d*** head. Dang I was chubs. blech.

it’s almost next year!
2007 is upon us. can you believe how quickly this year went? what happened to you this year?

Photography became more than a hobby to me. I invested in a great camera, took some classes and even one a $1k photo contest. A few friends (linked to over there >) got together and decided to put on our first photography gallery show together. it was a great feeling and the show was a success. i even made some money. it really showed me how much my family and friends support me. it was so exciting!
one of the biggest things that happened to me this year was getting a new job. after (almost exactly) two years with chuck i decided it was time for me to go back into media and explore what else was out there for me. it was a big decision to make. leaving a corporation, steady job, great benefits etc. had to decide to leave that. then i landed a job at ziff davis media as producer of PCMagCast – its online seminars focusing on cosumers and small businesses. it’s affiliated with PCMagazine. going back to the small start up feel. reminds me of my zdtv/techtv days. in fact i’m working with a few alums. overall it’s been a great experience and i think a decision that worked out well for me.
worked hard on remodeling my dad’s room while he was away on vacation in the philippines. he was happy!
uhm.. it’s only really been the last month that things have been kinda rough… my uncle suffered a stroke and is still in the hospital recovering. he’ll have to go through quite a bit of physical and speech therapy. also a former coworker at techtv passed away. hopefully things start picking back up in ‘07.
reminds me. need to think of some new year’s resolutions. any suggestions?
