it was a hectic!

wow! man. i should have posted about this here earlier. today was the PCMagCast Security Online Expo. well it’ll be archived for 3 months. i learned a lot! i learned i can sit for 12 hours straight in front of computer. 7 hours straight producing back to back events. besides that — i learned a lot about security (wireless, malware, unsecure rfids, vista, and more…). sign up. http://expo.pcmagcast.com/security you’ll learn a lot. it was a lot of fun tho. tomorrow might be another long day — but not as crazy as today. :)

it’s almost next year!

2007 is upon us. can you believe how quickly this year went? what happened to you this year?

me?

Photography became more than a hobby to me. I invested in a great camera, took some classes and even one a $1k photo contest. A few friends (linked to over there >) got together and decided to put on our first photography gallery show together. it was a great feeling and the show was a success. i even made some money. it really showed me how much my family and friends support me. it was so exciting!

one of the biggest things that happened to me this year was getting a new job. after (almost exactly) two years with chuck i decided it was time for me to go back into media and explore what else was out there for me. it was a big decision to make. leaving a corporation, steady job, great benefits etc. had to decide to leave that. then i landed a job at ziff davis media as producer of PCMagCast – its online seminars focusing on cosumers and small businesses. it’s affiliated with PCMagazine. going back to the small start up feel. reminds me of my zdtv/techtv days. in fact i’m working with a few alums. overall it’s been a great experience and i think a decision that worked out well for me.

worked hard on remodeling my dad’s room while he was away on vacation in the philippines. he was happy!

uhm.. it’s only really been the last month that things have been kinda rough… my uncle suffered a stroke and is still in the hospital recovering. he’ll have to go through quite a bit of physical and speech therapy. also a former coworker at techtv passed away. hopefully things start picking back up in ‘07.

reminds me. need to think of some new year’s resolutions. any suggestions?

Looking to get an HDTV?

man, wish i worked at ziff davis media before we bought the hdtv. then i’d be able to hit up some of the folks here for advice and recommendations. though… i am happy with my 42″ lcd by vizio (got it at costco — so i can always return it if anything goes wrong with it) — but plopping down 14 franklin’s would have been easier if i knew for sure i was getting my money’s worth.

well if you want your questions answered by some excellent tech experts you can register for PCMagCast’s “Selecting and Setting Up a High-Definition TV” live online webcast. it also happens to be my first one as the producer. 

it’s an hour long event dedicated to selecting and setting up hdtvs. we’ll have two experts on hand to give us the lowdown and at the end answering your questions. you’ll probably recognize one from the ol’ techtv days –former techtv labrat robert heron (he’s also the current host of dl.tv). well my first live online webcast will happen on tuesday November 21 at 2 p.m. EST (11 a.m. PST).

while i won’t be presenting or anything, i will have been the one that built everything and will be pushing the content live. oh. and answering some questions.

so for the 3 or so folks possibly reading this… what are you waiting for?

in other news. i’m going to be an auntie to another kid, come july 3rd 2007. my brother and sis-n-law are expecting. wee! :) here’s a site i put together in 1997 to announce my first induction into auntie-hood.
